New fishing boat delivered to northern Norway

Monday 7 february, 2022
The approximately 22-tonne boat was transported by road from our Porvoo shipyard to the port of Alta after a journey of approximately 40 hours. The boat, which is a 40-year birthday present from Jim to himself, is 10.99 m long and 4.7 m wide and has a load capacity of 25 tons in a cargo space of up to 22 cubic meters. The boat is Nikolaisen’s first new boat, which will become his job place in the coming years.
The all-aluminum boat has a 400 hp Scania D13 engine and a speed of about 10 knots. The boat is also manufactured for oil spill response and Nikolaisen participates in oil spill response exercises with his boat a few times a year.
The boat has the deck equipment consisting of a net hauler, bleeding container, and net storage bin needed for net fishing. It also has a hydraulic lifting beam for handling the traps used in catching king crabs. Hydraulic lift in the bleeding container makes work significantly easier. At sea, the crew can stay for a few days because it has two cabins and three beds, a decent kitchen, toilet, and shower.
We have together with our Norwegian subsidiary MarTec As delivered several Norcraft-fishing boats to Norway in recent years, and they are very popular among fishermen and crab catchers.
